Established in 2024, Dykes of the Roundtable (DOTR) is a seasonal lesbian-only writing workshop, hosted on Zoom. Given the lack of lesbian voices in standard writing workshops, we want to provide a space for dykes to uplift, expand, and challenge the lesbian qualities in each other’s work. This workshop is geared toward early-career writers and writers with nontraditional education pathways, but writers of any skill or experience level are welcome.
Each season of DOTR lasts about three months and meets biweekly on Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. EST. Writers will give feedback on each other’s work, lead conversations about their own writing, and engage with material from the Lesbian Herstory Archives.
In past seasons, our workshops have contained writers based all over the world, writers with children, writers with published books, writers with no published books, and later-in-life lesbians. Our table always welcomes (and needs!) Trans and BIPOC dykes.
When applications for our next season are open, we will update this page and advertise on our Instagram and in The Bullpen.
Applications for the Summer 2026 Season will be open until June 21st, 2026. Accepted applicants will hear from us by June 29th, 2026. The Summer 2026 Season will begin on July 6th, 2026.
Apply for the Summer 2026 Season
Our Summer 2026 Season's theme is: Flyover Country. We’re calling on all writers from the middle of nowhere. We want writing that emerges from rural places and from other places that don’t quite make it on the maps. Zoom in. Linger. We’re looking for writers working on prose, either fiction or nonfiction. We'd love novels, memoirs, personal essays, short stories, flash fiction, blog posts, whatever you're working on. We want this season’s writing to help us give more texture to in-between, underrepresented places, both within the U.S. and beyond.
The Summer 2026 Season will be the 5th cohort of the Dykes of the Roundtable workshop cycle, after the workshop's founding in Summer 2024.
This season will host 8 writers for 5 sessions on a bi-weekly basis. Anyone can apply, despite publication history or writing experience. We are a diverse workshop, so BIPOC, Trans/Non-Binary/Gender Non-Conforming, and Disabled lesbian writers are encouraged to apply!
Below are the dates for the Summer 2026 session. Sessions are held remotely from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM (EST). We ask that writers attend all sessions if selected.
